Графическая иллюстрация проблемы ограниченности ресурсов. Кривая трансформации показывает максимальное количество товаров и услуг, которое общество может произвести в данный момент времени с помощью имеющихся у него ресурсов и технологий. Рассмотрим график. На графике изображена граница альтернативных возможностей производства автомобилей и строительства больниц: в условиях полной занятости ресурсов производство автомобилей можно расширить только за счет изъятия ресурсов из строительства больниц, т.е. путем их перераспределения. Предположим, что все ресурсы направляются на производство автомобилей (точка А). В такой ситуации не удастся построить ни одной больницы. Если все ресурсы направить на строительство больниц (точка В), не будет произведено ни одного автомобиля. Если общество хочет иметь и автомобили и больницы, ему придется выбирать между этими двумя альтернативными возможностями, например, их сочетание в точке С. Точки, расположенные за пределами границы производственных возможностей с внутренней стороны (например точка U), демонстрируют неэффективное использование ресурсов или безработицу. В то же время при ограниченном количестве ресурсов и имеющихся технологиях невозможно достичь точки С1, расположенной с внешней стороны границы. Однако со временем в результате долгосрочного экономического роста граница может отодвигаться до положения А1В1. Насколько сильно она сместится и как скоро это произойдет, зависит от темпов экономического роста. См.
